Mr. Stitz has specialized practicing law in the area of employment law and labour law for over a decade; handling some of the most complex workplace litigation and negotiations. Mr. Stitz was called to the Ontario Bar and has been practising law in Ontario since 2012.

He provides legal advice and representation to individual employees, public and private businesses as well as contractors in all aspects of employment law, labour law, human resources and human rights law. Prior to opening Stitz Litigation, employment lawyers Toronto, Mr. Stitz worked with a leading Bay Street employment law firm in Toronto, Ontario where he represented both employees and employers in all aspects of employment law.

 

​A significant portion of Mr. Stitz's practice involves wrongful dismissal and human rights litigation, negotiating severance packages, navigating workplace regulatory matters as well as the drafting and interpretation of employment contracts and human resources policies and procedures. 

 

Mr. Stitz has also developed a niche practice that specializes in the handling of matters involving alleged unlawful competition by former employees and businesses. This includes matters involving the start-up of competing businesses by former employees, allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, breach of confidence, unlawful interference as well as matters concerning restrictive covenants such as non-competition and non-solicitation clauses.

 

Mr. Stitz has a wealth of experience serving as counsel before courts and specialized tribunals. He has acted as counsel before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal, Ontario Ministry of Labour, Ontario Labour Relations Board, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and Public Service Grievance Board of Ontario, among others.

 

He has  been a regular contributor to The Employment Bulletin for the last half decade, a publication that discusses critical and emerging workplace  issues, has been quoted by the Law Times and HRM Online, and written for the Ontario Bar Association and Canadian Lawyer.

 

He is also the past recipient of the CCH Prize for Legal Writing as well as the Blakes Scholar Award for academic excellence.
